Infamously known for being one of Harris Personal Injury Lawyers’ leading trial attorneys, Ranger Wiens is this month’s Spotlight Attorney. Ranger has represented injured victims and their families in San Luis Obispo and on the Central Coast of California for nearly five years. Prior to working at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Ranger represented State Farm Insurance and gained experience on the other side of the spectrum. His extensive litigation and trial experience directly connect to his successes at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers.
Ranger was named the runner-up for Trial Lawyer of the Year for the Central Coast Trial Lawyers Association in 2014 and a year later, he won. Ranger and his trial partner, Tanya Ortega-Rittger, also received the honor of Harris Personal Injury Trial Lawyer of the Year Award in 2015 and 2016 for their extraordinary efforts, perseverance, and verdicts at trial. Ranger grew up playing baseball and followed his dream of playing ball in college. He did not stop there, he advanced to professional baseball and played in the Frontier League.
Was there someone who influenced you to be an attorney? “My best friend’s father was a lawyer, and his dedication and desire to help people inspired me to follow in his footsteps.”
What schools did you go to? “I went to the University of Nevada Reno for my freshman year and transferred to Brigham Young University to finish my undergrad education. I attended The University of La Verne Law School to receive my Juris Doctorate.”
What do you like most about being a PI attorney? “I enjoy helping people fight for justice and especially fighting off the ridiculousness of the insurance companies.”
What are you the most passionate about? “I am most passionate about hammering defense experts who make stuff up and who give outlandish opinions.”
What is your philosophy when representing a case? “A.B.H. or Always Be Hustlin’—When I take on a case, I try to be proactive, and not reactive. I will find ways to put pressure on the defense to maximize case value.”
Favorite place to vacation? “Anywhere tropical, I love the ocean and traveling with my family to beautiful places.”
Fun Fact? “I named my son’s middle name, Jeter, after the famous Major League Baseball star, Derek Jeter.
Favorite food? “A good steak, well-done.”
