2023 Vehicle Safety Recalls Week

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently publicizing their annual vehicle safety recall campaign. From March 6th through the 11th, they will be working to raise awareness about the importance of checking vehicles for recalls. They’re making it easier than ever before to stay on top of important recall information. As always, they’re recommending motorists check their vehicles for recalls at least twice per year. Checking your vehicle when daylight saving time changes is a good way to remember it’s time to check for recalls. They have an easy-to-use website search tool, and you can even sign up to receive alerts about the latest recalls.

Check Your Vehicle For Recalls

According to the NHTSA, in 2021, there were 1,093 safety recalls impacting more than 34 million vehicles and other equipment in the U.S. Could your car be one of these vehicles? Most people probably think they’re okay if they haven’t received a postcard about it in the mail. Unfortunately, mail can get lost, and changes in address can also mean mail doesn’t always get to where it’s supposed to be. Don’t count on a postcard in the mail. Be proactive, and check your vehicle for recalls twice a year. It only takes a few minutes using the NHTSA’s VIN Lookup Tool

Get Your Vehicle Repaired For Free

Don’t delay checking your vehicle for recalls or getting it repaired. Additionally, don’t worry that it’s going to be expensive. Recall repairs are always free. If your vehicle is under recall, that means there is a significant threat to your safety. Call your local dealership immediately and schedule a free repair. Also, make sure to follow all guidelines associated with the recall. You may be able to continue driving your vehicle prior to the repair. In some cases, especially with older model cars with Takata airbags, there could be a “Do Not Drive” order associated with the recall.
