On Wednesday morning, a child on a bicycle was injured when a vehicle in Los Alamos struck him. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened near the southbound on-ramp to Highway 101 at Highway 135 at about 7:30 a.m. Very little information about this collision has been released, but initial reports indicate that a 13-year-old boy was riding his bike westbound, against the flow of traffic, when a vehicle turning right struck him.

The child was thrown from the bicycle. First responders rushed to the scene, where the boy had to be airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of major injuries. There has been no word on the child’s current condition, and this incident could still be under investigation with law enforcement officers.
