Consumer Alert for 2021 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued a press release about a consumer alert regarding certain 2021 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators. At this time, Ford Motor Co. is warning vehicle owners and rental car companies that 2021 Ford Expeditions and 2021 Lincoln Navigators are at risk of fire, especially when they are parked and left unattended.  

Currently, there have been 16 confirmed reports of fires associated with these vehicles. Most of them were parked and unattended at the time of the fires. Additionally, 14 of these fires occurred in rental vehicles.  

Fire Risk for Parked 2021 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators  

The consumer alert is calling on owners of these vehicles to park them outside. Absolutely, do not park these vehicles in a garage or any kind of structure. They should only be parked outside and away from homes, buildings and other types of structures. Fires have happened in vehicles that were parked and completely turned off.  

More than approximately 39,000 vehicles are being impacted by this recall. There has been no word on what causes the fire or on the possible remedy or repair to fix the issue yet. In the meantime, these vehicles should not be parked in garages or near homes and buildings. Ford has issued a recall with the NHTSA and is getting ready to notify owners with instructions.
