A wrong-way driver in a sports car caused a deadly crash on Thursday afternoon in University City on Interstate 805. Three people were killed in the accident, including a young girl. An 18-year-old driver in a McLaren sports car was speeding on the wrong side of the freeway in the HOV lane and struck a Hyundai, driven by a 43-year-old female. Also, among the Hyundai driver, was a 12-year-old passenger. All three involved were confirmed dead at the scene.

Per ABC Ten News, the fiery wreck caused a chain reaction of collisions that involved at least five other vehicles. One person was reported to have a serious injury and was immediately taken to the hospital with a serious injury. Authorities were also looking for an out of control driver in a sports car who tried to ram the gate of Ashley Falls Elementary School in Carmel Valley moments before this deadly accident. Reports have yet to confirm that these two incidents were connected.
