On Thursday morning, a driver struck a power pole and knocked out power to approximately 238 customers in San Luis Obispo. According to KSBY News Channel Six, the incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. Power wasn’t expected to be restored until sometime around 8:00 a.m. Although very few details about this one-vehicle crash have been released, initial reports indicate that a female driver was at the wheel when her vehicle slammed into the power pole.

She fled the scene on foot and is still on the run. The power pole was broken off at the base. The impact was so great that the pole split in half. The cause of this apparent one-vehicle crash is likely still under investigation with local law enforcement officials.
