DUI Injury Crash Involving Teen Driver

On Sunday afternoon, a crash involving an unlicensed teen driver injured at least four people and could have injured a baby. According to NBC Channel Seven News, the incident happened sometime after 1:00 p.m. in Escondido, when an 18-year-old unlicensed driver ran a red light. The teen’s car, a Toyota Paseo, crashed into a Chevy Impala.

At least three people from Mendez’s car were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. The driver of the Impala was injured in the crash, but the one-year-old child thankfully appeared to have escaped injury. The teen driver, Elias Mendez, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, felony DUI causing injuries and driving without a license.
