Five-Year-Old Injured in Rollaway Crash

On Wednesday afternoon, two people including a five-year-old boy were injured in a rollaway crash in Santa Barbara’s Mesa area. A nanny was apparently in the process of unloading children on a residential street when the van rolled away. The van travelled about 30 feet before hitting a wall and coming to a stop.

According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the nanny was caught in the van’s backseat sliding door. She sustained major injuries and was swiftly transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The five-year-old child was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and suffered what is being described as a minor arm injury. Another child was also in the car, but thankfully still buckled up. This incident is still under investigation with authorities.
