Hit and Run Driver Suspected of DUI

Earlier this week, a crash on South 30th Street and National Avenue seriously injured a woman. The driver of a Mercedes was headed southbound on 30th street and ran a red light at National Avenue. He crashed into a Nissan and fled from the scene on foot. On Monday, the driver, suspected of DUI, was taken into police custody.

Dino Delimitros, an officer with the San Diego Police Department, said that the driver was apprehended on the 3100 block of Logan Avenue after fleeing from the scene. He was arrested on suspicion of hit and run and felony drunken driving. The victim suffered from serious facial injuries and broken ribs. There is no word on her current condition or whether or not anybody else was injured in this crash.
