A mother and daughter were recently injured while riding a scooter in Mission Beach. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, a mother and her 11-year-old daughter were visiting Mission Beach from Phoenix when they decided to rent a motorized scooter. They were on the boardwalk when the scooter crashed, and they were both rushed to the hospital.

The daughter suffered from a ruptured spleen, and the mother suffered from multiple head fractures. Neither of them were wearing helmets at the time of the wreck. The cause of this scooter crash could still be under investigation with authorities. At this time, concerned family members are asking the San Diego City Council why they haven’t implemented a ban on scooters on the boardwalk.
