On New Year’s Day, a motorcycle rider was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver going the wrong way on SR-76 near Via Monserate. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened at about 3:54 a.m. Very few details about this fatal wreck have been released, but initial reports indicate that there was an eastbound Lexus in the westbound lanes of 76.

The Lexus struck a motorcycle rider. That person died on the scene. The 25-year-old driver in the Lexus was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was arrested on suspected drunk driving charges. This incident could still be under investigation with the California Highway Patrol.
