NHTSA Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving in 2022

With upcoming events like the Super Bowl and Saint Patrick’s Day on the horizon, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wants to remind everybody that Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving. In many situations, even one drink can be one drink too many. If you plan on celebrating the Super Bowl or any upcoming holidays with alcohol, make a plan to get home safely.

It’s never a good idea to wait until the last minute to make a plan. You also shouldn’t just “have a few” and then see how you feel. If you’re drinking, you shouldn’t be driving. Getting behind the wheel should never be a “game time decision.” It’s not worth risking your life or the lives of others. Designating a driver is a great way to plan for a safe ride home. Ride sharing apps also make for good backup plans. Whatever you do, don’t get behind the wheel.

Drunk driving accidents are completely preventable. If somebody makes the choice to get behind the wheel after drinking, they’re putting themselves and everybody on the road at great risk of injuries or worse. After an injury accident involving a drunk driver, it’s important to speak with a Personal Injury lawyer about your case. A lawyer can stay abreast of investigative developments in your case, and fight to get you the compensation you deserve to pay for medical bills, lost wages and other expenses associated with your injuries.
