NHTSA Launches Labor Day Anti Drunk Driving Campaign

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued a press release about their Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. This year, they have a $13 million budget for paid media ads. They will be running these anti-drunk driving campaign ads on various outlets including television, radio, digital, social media and billboards. Additionally, state and local law enforcement agencies across the nation will be participating in a high-visibility enforcement campaign. These efforts will be running from August 19 through September 5.

  • On average from 2018 to 2020, more than 10,000 people were killed in drunk driving crashes each year.
  • On average in 2020, one person was killed in a drunk driving crash every 45 minutes in the U.S.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

For the Labor Day holiday weekend and all year long, safety advocates are calling on people to Drive Sober or Get Pulled over. Drunk driving accidents are 100-percent preventable. If you plan on celebrating the holiday weekend with alcohol, don’t get behind the wheel. Even one drink can be one drink too many, so don’t take a chance. Buzzed driving is drunk driving too. Make sure you have a safe ride home. It could save your life or the lives of others.
