Over the weekend, a woman was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver in Escondido. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened at 12:16 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of East Washington Avenue. Very little information about this crash has been released, but we do know that the woman and a male companion were crossing the street at the time of the crash.

The suspected drunk driver, in a 1999 Ford Ranger, reportedly swerved to avoid hitting the man and struck the woman instead. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but she did not survive her injuries. The driver was booked into a detention center for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
