A retired Santa Barbara Police Lieutenant is due in court this month to face hit-and-run charges in connection with an incident that occurred last year. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, Retired Lieutenant Paul McCaffrey is due in court on January 26, 2017 to face charges associated with his July 28, 2016 arrest. Initially, he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

Although very few details were released, we do know he is facing charges including hit-and-run causing property damage and resisting, obstructing or delaying a law enforcement officer. The initial wreck occurred on the 1200 block of Santa Barbara Street, about a block away from police headquarters. Thankfully, nobody was injured in the incident.
