Santa Maria House Fire

A house fire in Santa Maria has displaced six people. The fire happened on Monday afternoon, in the 1000 block of West Stowell at around 3:15 p.m. According to KCOY News Channel 12, when firefighters with the Santa Maria Fire Department arrived on the scene, there was thick black smoke coming from the garage.

Thankfully, the four adults and two children inside of the house were able to get out in time. According to KCOY News Channel 12, Battalion Chief Ed Hadfield, of the Santa Maria Fire Department, said that it didn’t appear that the smoke detectors were working or active. There is no word on the cause of the fire yet, since it’s still under investigation. The Red Cross was able to help the family find a temporary place to stay.
