Semi Truck Crash on Highway 101

Early Tuesday morning, a semi truck crash happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 in Carpinteria. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened near the Santa Monica Road off ramp at about 4:20 a.m. The truck was pulling two loaded trailers at the time of the crash. The big rig spilled approximately 40 gallons of diesel fuel and damaged about 300 feet of guardrail.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this crash. Crews were able to reopen one of the lanes by about 7:40 a.m., but there were traffic delays all morning. At this time, we don’t know what caused this apparent one-vehicle big rig crash. The cause is likely still under investigation with authorities.
