Semi Truck on Fire in San Marcos

On Tuesday morning, a truck in San Marcos caught fire on State Route 78. According to NBC San Diego News Channel Seven, the incident happened sometime before 6:30 a.m., just east of Nordalh Road. For currently unknown reasons, the cab of the big rig became fully engulfed in flames. Thankfully, the driver was able to pull over on the shoulder of the roadway and escape from the blaze.

First responders were swiftly on the scene, where firefighters extinguished he flames. A SigAlert was issued, and a portion of the roadway was closed as crews worked the scene. Very few details about this incident have been released, and we still don’t know what caused the fire.
