Student Pedestrians Injured in Orcutt

On Tuesday, four students were injured after an elderly driver crashed onto the sidewalk in front of Alice Shaw School in Orcutt. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened at about 11:45 a.m. at 759 Dahlia Place. The 91-year-old driver reportedly confused the accelerator pedal for the brake pedal and drove onto the sidewalk. The car struck a flagpole and stopped, but four children were struck in the process.

At least one of those children was severely injured. The elementary-school-aged boy had to be airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment. The other three children suffered from apparently minor injuries. There has been no word on the child’s current condition or the extent of injuries involved. The team at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. wishes the injured child a full and speedy recovery from his injuries.
