Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver’s Criminal Record

Information on the fatal hit-and-run collision that happened on Friday, December 6th is raising questions about senseless and avoidable tragedies that happen in Santa Barbara. Mallory Dies was crossing the street when she was struck by an automobile. The Santa Barbara Independent reports that Mallory Rae Dies, the 27-year-old victim, died at Cottage Hospital on Wednesday.

The driver, Raymond Morua, allegedly fled the scene before he crashed into a tree. His blood alcohol content was more than two times the legal limit. Originally, he was charged with felony DUI and hit and run, but he has since been charged with murder, vehicular manslaughter and fleeing the scene of the crime. According to KEYT News Channel Three, Morua’s previous criminal record includes two DUI arrests, a previous hit and run, grand theft and driving with a suspended license.
