SUV Crash Near UCSB

On Friday morning, a crash near the University of California, Santa Barbara left one person trapped in a partially submerged vehicle. According to KSBY News Channel Six, the incident happened sometime after 6:30 a.m. on Highway 217, near the UCSB campus. For currently unknown reasons, an SUV left the roadway and landed in some dense vegetation in a culvert. It actually took first responders a little while to locate the vehicle that had landed on its side.

First responders had to use chainsaws and other tools to extricate the person inside. The male, whose identity has not been released, was transported to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. There’s no word on his current condition. The cause of this crash is likely still under investigation with authorities.
