Over the weekend, a man was taken into custody after ramming his vehicle into a crowd and injuring at least twenty-eight people during a Mardi Gras celebration. Five people were reported seriously injured. The man in the pickup truck was highly intoxicated. ABC News stated, “The driver caused one of the vehicles to strike a third vehicle. He then lost control driving over the neutral ground, striking a city dump truck and hitting multiple pedestrians…” The incident occurred on the Orleans and Carrollton Avenue intersection at around 6:42 p.m. This incident happened on the adjacent street to the Mardi Gras parade.Thankfully, no one died in this tragic accident.
