On Tuesday morning in Fremont, a car burst into flames after crashing into a tree, killing one person and injuring another. The incident took place around 12:30 am near Fremont Boulevard and Thornton Avenue, according to ABC 7 News. Surveillance video captured the details of the crash, which showed the car hitting a light pole, wrapping around a tree, and catching on fire within seconds. The injured person was taken to a nearby hospital, where his condition remained unknown.  

The stretch of road between Thornton Avenue and Peralta Boulevard was shut down for several hours. A witness told NBC Bay Area that Fremont Boulevard sees constant speeding, and that more traffic calming measures are needed to ensure that drivers slow down. At the time of the report, the investigation was still ongoing.
