1 Dead in Fremont After Car Hits Tree, Catches on Fire
On Tuesday morning in Fremont, a car burst into flames after crashing into a tree, killing one person and injuring another. The incident took place around 12:30 am near Fremont Boulevard and Thornton Avenue, according to ABC 7 News. Surveillance video captured the details of the crash, which showed the car hitting a light pole, wrapping around a tree, and catching on fire within seconds. The injured person was taken to a nearby hospital, where his condition remained unknown.
The stretch of road between Thornton Avenue and Peralta Boulevard was shut down for several hours. A witness told NBC Bay Area that Fremont Boulevard sees constant speeding, and that more traffic calming measures are needed to ensure that drivers slow down.
