On Saturday morning in East Pasadena, three people were killed and three others injured after their Tesla crashed into an unoccupied building at more than 100 mph. According to The Los Angeles Times, the white, five-seat Tesla Model 3 was headed west on Foothill Boulevard around 2:30 am when it appeared to have lost control. It hit a curb and launched into the air, likely traveling more than 130 feet before striking a utility pole and the building. The driver and front seat passenger died at the scene, while three of the four rear passengers were thrown from the vehicle. One of the passengers that was thrown died, and the two others were taken to the hospital along with the other survivor who had remained in the car. All three passengers are expected to survive.

At the time of the report, the cause of the crash remained under investigation. However, it does not appear as if the vehicle malfunctioned. A toxicology test will be performed to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
