Earlier this week, more than 12 passengers were injured when an Amtrak train partially derailed in the Moorpark area. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the incident happened at a railroad crossing near Los Angeles Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. For currently unknown reasons, a public works truck from Ventura County Public Works Agency was on or nearby the railroad tracks. The train struck the water truck, and three of the seven train cars came off the tracks.

Some of the train cars were tilted sideways, but thankfully, none of them overturned. There were 186 passengers and 13 crew members on the train when it hit the truck, and 16 of them were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. This train derailment is likely still under investigation with local law enforcement officials.
