Earlier this week, an 11-year-old boy was struck while riding his bicycle in the Lomita area. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the collision happened on Thursday evening at about 5:30 p.m. Initial reports indicate that the boy was riding his bike on the 1300 block of Woodrow Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle.

The child reportedly crossed over the northbound lane and headed onto the eastside sidewalk when he was struck by a Hyundai Elantra. First responders rushed to the scene, and the child had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment of a fractured femur and tibia. The driver did remain on the scene to cooperate with authorities. This wreck is likely still under investigation with local officials.
