Earlier this week, a one-vehicle crash in Ventura County started a wildfire. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon at about 5:10 p.m. Initial reports indicate that a vehicle crashed on the northbound lanes of SR-33, near Tico Road. Apparently, the driver may have suffered from some type of medical issue and fainted behind the wheel. Her vehicle crashed into a wooden fence and then stopped in a field beside the roadway.

Her vehicle’s exhaust started a brush fire, and it spread to about 13 acres of land before it was extinguished. Helicopters and multiple fire crews were dispatched to the scene, and residents in the area were given “soft evacuations” or shelter in place orders. This incident may still be under investigation.
