Earlier this week, a bicycle rider was struck and killed by a suspected impaired driver in Oceanside. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the wreck happened last Monday afternoon. The cyclist was on his way from his house to his maintenance job at a church in Carlsbad when the wreck happened. Apparently, he was only a few blocks from his house when he was struck and dragged approximately 50 yards by the vehicle.

First responders rushed to the scene. Sadly, the cyclist, a 52-year-old local father of four, did not survive his injuries. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. Initial reports indicate that the driver admitted to using heroin. This incident is likely still under investigation with authorities.
