The City of Carlsbad recently enacted a series of laws aimed at motorized vehicle safety. According to NBC San Diego News Channel Seven, there were nearly 200 incidents involving e-bikes and bikes in the last three years in Carlsbad. In response to this data, new regulations have just gone into effect that target unsafe operators of motorized scooters and other similar vehicles. Vehicles included in these new regulations include segways, electrically motorized skateboards, e-bikes and e-scooters.

Under the new ordinance, operators are to “ride with care and to reduce speed when needed for safety.” There are other specifications about where riders can travel and what to do when they’re on narrow trails or within 50 feet of pedestrians or horseback riders too. Officials are hoping these new regulations will help to improve safety throughout the city.
