On Wednesday morning, two people were injured after a driver crashed into a light pole in Kearny Mesa. According to the Times of San Diego, the crash occurred around 3:20 am in the 8000 block of Dagget Street. A 2016 Kia Optima was driving eastbound at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the cement base of a light pole on the east side of 4500 Mercury Street. Police reported that the driver did not realize the road had ended before crashing.   

One passenger suffered a fractured jaw. A second, unbelted passenger who had been sitting in the back sustained serious internal injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital. The driver did not suffer any injuries.
