Over the weekend, a hit-and-run driver struck a fire hydrant in the Porter Ranch area. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning. Initial reports indicate that the driver hit a fire hydrant at about 1:30 a.m. near Tampa and Wilbur Avenues. The vehicle involved was a Dodge pickup truck, and the driver left it at the scene and fled on foot.

The hydrant was reportedly sheared off, and water was shooting into the air and flooding the street. The street was under several inches of water near where the crash happened. Apparently, it took crews about 15 minutes to get the water stopped. At the time of the report, there was no information on whether or not the suspect had been located.
