Earlier this week, a suspected drunk driver struck a fire hydrant in the San Carlos area. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened at about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning near Bisby Lake and Tommy Drive. Initial reports indicate that the vehicle struck the hydrant and then tried to flee the scene.

Even though the vehicle lost a tire, the driver drove away with sparks flying. Water was shooting into the air, and a portion of the roadway was flooded. The driver went a few blocks and then pulled into a nearby driveway and went inside a home. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, located the driver and detained that person on suspicion of DUI.
