The San Diego Police Department is planning a DUI checkpoint this week. The checkpoint is going to run from 10:00 p.m. on Thursday night until 3:00 a.m. on Friday morning. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the DUI and driver’s license checkpoint will be held at an undisclosed location within the San Diego city limits. This checkpoint is part of the end-of-summer push to raise awareness about the dangers and costs associated with drunk driving.

The primary goal of these checkpoints is to improve roadway safety in San Diego. Police officers will be looking for signs of impairment and checking driver’s licenses. This particular checkpoint is being funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
