On Tuesday, there was a fatal crash in Mira Mesa. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the wreck happened sometime after 4:00 p.m. on Branicole Lane and Mercy Road. Very few details about this wreck have been released, but we do know that a car, possibly traveling at a high rate of speed, struck a tree and caught on fire. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and it swerved passenger-side first into the tree and went up in flames.

A Sig Alert was issued and first responders and crews rushed to the scene. At this time, there has been no word on whether or not there was anybody else in the vehicle or if any other vehicles were possibly involved prior to the crash. The driver did not survive the wreck, and this crash is still under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.
