Over the weekend, there was a fatal crash on the 405 Freeway in Irvine. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the wreck happened just north of Irvine Center Drive on Sunday afternoon. Initial reports indicate that a vehicle hit a tree beside the freeway at about 3:30 p.m.

First responders rushed to the scene. A fatality was reported, but there has been no word on whether or not anybody else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash or if any other injuries were reported. Since the vehicle crashed beside the roadway, a hard closure of the freeway was not needed. Drivers in the area were asked to proceed with caution. This fatal crash is likely still under investigation with the CHP.
