Early Thursday morning, there was a fatal crash on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the wreck happened at about 4:45 a.m., near Skirball Center Drive, in the Brentwood area. Initial reports indicate that a vehicle collided with the back of a tractor trailer.  

First responders rushed to the scene, but sadly, the driver of the vehicle did not survive their injuries. All lanes on the southbound portion of the 405 in that area had to be closed as crews and emergency responders worked the scene. Some of the lanes were reopened by about 6:15 a.m., and traffic was backed up to the 118 Freeway for a period of time. Very few details have been released about this fatal crash, which is likely still under investigation.
