Last week, a 29-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the South Los Angeles area. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the incident happened on Friday afternoon, at about 4:05 p.m. Apparently, the pedestrian was crossing East 76th Street and Avalon Boulevard when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV that was headed south on Avalon.

Initial reports indicate that the SUV continued south at a high rate of speed, and possibly had its lights turned off. First responders initially reported that the crash happened at about 6:00 p.m., so it’s unclear how soon authorities were able to arrive on the scene. We do know that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Anybody with information about the hit-and-run driver or vehicle is being asked to come forward.
