Early Thursday morning, there was a fatal SUV crash on Mira Mesa Boulevard. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened on the 7900 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard at about 5:30 a.m. Initial reports indicate that a Honda CR-V was headed westbound when, for currently unknown reasons,  it left the roadway and drove onto a concrete island between the eastbound and westbound lanes. It then struck a tree.

First responders rushed to the scene, where they found the driver had sustained major head trauma. That person was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, there has been no word on the cause of the crash, which could still be under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.
