Over the weekend, there was a DUI checkpoint in the Pacific Beach area. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the DUI checkpoint was held on the 2700 block of Garnet Avenue. It started at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and ran until 3:00 a.m. on Sunday. During the checkpoint, 1,181 vehicles passed through. Of those vehicles, 371 were screened by officers. Out of those vehicles that were screened, 10 field sobriety tests were conducted.  

Officers arrested three people on suspicion of driving under the influence. Additionally, one person was arrested on suspicion of other criminal charges. There were three vehicles impounded during the checkpoint. These checkpoints are conducted in an effort to get drunk drivers off of the roads and also deter drivers from getting behind the wheel if they’ve been drinking.
