On Monday night, two horses were killed after being hit by a car in Santa Clarita Valley. The collision happened around 8:30 pm near the Sand Canyon Road and Iron Canyon Road intersection, according to KTLA. A group of young girls and one woman were crossing onto Iron Canyon Road on their horses when a Nissan sedan came towards them at high speeds. The woman led her horse to the front of the group as the Nissan struck her and her daughter, causing them to fall from their horses.

The women’s horse died at the scene, while her daughter’s horse was later put down due to its injuries. The woman suffered a shattered knee and her daughter sustained minor injuries. Footage from the scene showed the Nissan with significant frontend damage. At the time of the report, DUI was not suspected.
