On Monday afternoon, a crash involving a solo vehicle occurred at an intersection in South San Jose. The collision was first reported near Highway 101 at Monterey and Metcalf roads around 1:20 pm, according to The Mercury News. Both the driver and passenger sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. The driver was released with non-life-threatening injuries, but the passenger remained in critical condition as of Tuesday morning.   

At the time of the report, police were still investigating the collision. Southbound Monterey Road at Metcalf Road had been blocked off due to the investigation, but as of Tuesday morning all roadways were open.
