On Saturday morning, one person was killed in a five-vehicle crash near Gonzales. According to KSBW, the crash took place around 11:45 am on Highway 101 south of Gloria Road. A teenager was driving a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 and hauling a trailer southbound on Highway 101 when he struck a Chevrolet Colorado from behind. This caused the Colorado to lose control and roll over. The driver of the Colorado was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was taken to a hospital for his injuries.   

The initial crash also caused a chain reaction involving three additional vehicles, including a white Honda Accord and a maroon Toyota Sienna. No one else was hurt. Both southbound lanes of Highway 101 were shut down during the investigation.
