Early Monday morning in Studio City, Los Angeles Fire Department recruit Jacob Fuerte was struck and killed outside his vehicle after initially being involved in a two-car collision. The incident happened at Campo De Cuehenga on the northbound side of the 101 Freeway, south of the Vineland Avenue off ramp. According to the Los Angeles Times, Fuerte’s 2000 Jeep had been involved in a crash with a 2021 Ford sedan. After exiting his car, Fuerte was hit by an unknown vehicle that was part of a separate accident. He was declared dead at the scene.

The incident was initially being investigated as a potential criminal hit-and-run, but that investigation has since been dropped. At the time of the report, a motion had been introduced to offer a $50,000 reward for information about those responsible for Fuerte’s death.
