On Monday morning, one person was killed in a fatal crash along northbound Interstate 880 in San Jose. According to East Bay Times, the collision occurred around 4:40 am near The Alameda exit. A Honda Civic swerved to avoid something into the road and overturned after striking the center divider in the freeway’s northbound lanes. About three minutes later, a motorcycle collided with the overturned vehicle, causing the rider to be ejected into the bushes between the off-ramp and the freeway.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Honda were able to free themselves from the wreck and did not appear to sustain any serious injuries. Northbound lanes of I-880 were initially blocked by the crash but reopened about two hours later.
