Nearly One-Third of Traffic Deaths are Speed-Related
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued a press release about the dangers associated with speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors. According to the NHTSA, speeding-related fatalities have reached a 14-year high, so they’re partnering with various agencies across the nation to launch the “Speeding Wrecks Lives” campaign. Recent data shows that even though there has been a slight dip in overall roadway deaths in the last three quarters, speeding-related fatalities reached a 14-year-high in 2021 and currently make up nearly one-third of all traffic deaths.
Speeding Wrecks Lives
The Speeding Wrecks Lives campaign will be running from July 10-31 and is supported by a $9.6 million national media purchase. There will be ads running in English and Spanish on television, radio and a variety of digital platforms. At this time, the target audience are drivers between the ages of 18 to 44 years old. This is the demographic most likely to speed in a fatal crash involving speed.
