NHTSA Launching New Campaign on Speeding and Risky Driving

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued a press release about the launching of their new campaign to remind drivers that speeding wrecks lives. According to the NHTSA, addressing risky driving behaviors like speeding is one of five pillars in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s comprehensive National Roadway Safety Strategy. This latest public safety education campaign is specifically focused on one of the riskiest driving behaviors, speeding.

NHTSA’s Speeding Wrecks Lives Campaign

This week, the NHTSA is kicking off their Speeding Wrecks Lives campaign. This anti-speeding campaign will run from July 20th through August 14th, and is being funded by an $8 million nationwide media buy. There will be ads in English and Spanish, and they will be running on a variety of media outlets and platforms including online, television and radio.

This year, the campaign is primarily being geared towards drivers between the ages of 18 and 44. This age group includes the drivers most likely to be involved in fatal crashes involving speeding.
