NHTSA Put The Phone Away or Pay

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently gearing up for the nationwide high-visibility enforcement campaign entitled “Put The Phone Away or Pay.” This anti-distracted driving public safety campaign will launch on April 1, 2024. Last year, it was the U Drive. U Text. U Pay. campaign. Like last year’s campaign, the Put The Phone Away or Pay campaign will also be focusing on the financial consequences of texting or using your phone while driving.

National Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Throughout the Month of April, the NHTSA as well as various state and local public safety and law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S., will be participating in National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The California Highway Patrol will be conducting enhanced enforcement operations in an effort to increase awareness about the issue and cut down on distracted drivers.

Put The Phone Away or Pay

Motorists are being urged to Put The Phone Away or Pay. Distracted driving puts drivers at greater risk for getting into injury causing and potentially fatal car crashes. In the best case scenario, you could be facing a ticket and an expensive fine. Make sure you put your phone away for the upcoming National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and all year round.

Making a Commitment to Distraction-Free Driving

Making a commitment to distraction-free driving is a critically important part of keeping roads safe in California and across America. An easy way to cut down on distractions behind the wheel is by simply putting your phone in the back seat. Additionally, put it on silent, so you won’t be tempted by the noise of an incoming text or call. The text or call can always wait. The best policy is to get to your destination safelybefore checking your phone.
