NHTSA’s 2023 Labor Day Anti Drunk Driving Campaign
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued a press release about their upcoming Labor Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. With Labor Day on the horizon and summer coming to an end, motorists are being reminded to drive sober. According to the NHTSA, two-thirds of drunk driving crash fatalities involved a driver with a BAC of .15+ in 2021.
This year, the Labor Day anti-drunk driving campaign is being funded by a $13.8 million paid media campaign. There will be ads running on television, radio, digital, social media and on billboards. The goal is to raise awareness about the dangers and consequences of drunk driving.
High Visibility Law Enforcement Campaign
Additionally, there will be high-visibility law enforcement campaigns running in areas in California and throughout the U.S. From August 18th through September 4th, law enforcement officers will be out in full force. There will be an increase in the number of DUI checkpoints and roadway patrols. The high-visibility enforcement campaigns are all about getting drunk drivers off of the roads and also detering drivers from getting behind the wheel if they’ve been drinking.
