Earlier this week, a 23-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV on Interstate Five near downtown San Diego. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened in the Banker’s Hill area on Thursday morning. Initial reports indicate that a Kia SUV struck the pedestrian on the northbound side of the freeway near West Hawthorn Street.  

First responders rushed to the scene. The injured pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, but he did not survive his injuries. Several lanes of the roadway were closed as crews and first responders worked the scene. This was the second pedestrian fatality to occur on a San Diego freeway in a six hour period. There has been no word on whether or not the driver involved is facing any citations or charges.
