Earlier this week, a pedestrian was critically injured by a suspected DUI driver in San Ysidro. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened sometime after 9:15 p.m. on Monday night. Apparently, the female pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk on Avenida De La Madrid and Smythe Avenue, when a suspected impaired driver failed to stop. The driver was in a 2006 BMW X3 when he struck the pedestrian.  

The injured woman was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries including a brain bleed. At the time of the report, she was listed in critical condition. The driver was evaluated on the scene and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana.
